ROAD COMMISSIONER/TAX COLLECTOR/TOWN MANAGER REPORT:
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER’S REPORT: Stewart Brooks stated that last week he
had received a call from a woman who had gone to the Seafood Galley restaurant and was offended by a picture of a cat smoking, which was hanging in the bathroom. Stewart said he explained to the woman there was nothing he could do about it, but he would talk to the owner of the restaurant, which he did.
Stewart let the Board know a temporary mobile home has been placed at 225 Damascus Road for the family that was recently burned out.
There was discussion regarding Garrel Bouchey’s house that was torn down at 55 Hampden Road and the fact that the debris from the house has not been cleaned up yet. Tom Richmond asked the Board if we should hold off on applying his abatement until the debris has been cleaned up. Selectmen had no objections. Stewart Brooks is to check on the progress of the clean-up.
Part Time Position (Info): Tom stated we advertised Patti Overlock’s position, and have had a
few applications turned in. We did have two ladies from another town office come and help us out, one for three days and the other for two days. Also, one of the applicants with town office experience started today as a temporary for a few weeks, on a trial basis to see if it works out.
Tom said he has asked a couple of town managers if there is any interest in training a few employees to help town offices as needed, and there is interest. Tom is thinking about training an extra employee who would be willing to be a floater for several towns. Doug Small asked if there would be any problem figuring payroll taxes with the extra employees, and Coreen stated there wouldn’t be since the computer figures the payroll taxes. Selectmen had no objections.
