Recycling will be picked up the first (1st) Tuesday of the month.
WHAT CAN BE RECYCLED
PAPER
Keep clean & dry. Remove any product samples and plastic cards from mail. Deposit loose or in brown paper bags. Books should have all covers removed, including paperback books
Mixed papers, old mail, newspapers magazines, phone books, catalogs paperback & hard bound books with covers torn off, and paper bags.
Do Not Put Out:
Carbon paper, photographs, paper contaminated with food, tissue paper.
PAPERBOARD & CARDBOARD
Discard paper, foil, and plastic liners. Discard metal spouts and cutting strips as on salt a plastic wrap boxes. Use caution to prevent injury. Keep all materials clean and dry. Fold flat and deposit loose or in brown bags.
Clean food boxes with all metal and plastic removed. Cereal, rice, & cake mix boxes, salt boxes, plastic wrap boxes (not the plastic wrap itself), medicine, toiletry, aspirin, band-aid & shirt boxes. Toilet paper & paper towel tubes, writing pad backs, poster board, egg cartons and clean corrugated cardboard boxes.
Do Not Bring:
Waxed paper or waxed cardboard boxes such as vegetables and meats are shipped in foil, plastic liners, plastic coated paper.
PLASTIC
Make clean enough for storage in your home. You do not have to rinse containers. Crush flat and leaving labels on is okay.
Crushed milk jugs, cider jugs, and similar #2 natural bottles. Crushed vinegar bottles, detergent bottles, bleach bottles, and similar #2 colored bottles. Crushed vegetable oil, soda, and similar #1 clear or colored plastic bottles.
Do Not Put Out:
Wide mouth plastic containers, only BOTTLE opening style plastics, motor oil bottles, containers with something in them, especially those containing flammable liquids such as paint thinner or gasoline
GLASS
Make clean enough for storage in your home. You do not have to rinse containers. You do not need to crush the glass and leaving labels on is okay.
Clear and colored glass bottles and jars.
Do Not Put Out:
Auto glass, such as windshields, safety glass with a plastic or metal inner membrane, ceramic or mirror glass.
CANS & ALUMINUM
Make clean enough for storage in your home. You do not have to rinse containers. Crush flat and leaving labels on is okay.
Metal food and beverage cans, aluminum trays and pans, and empty aerosol cans.
Do Not Put Out:
Propane tanks or bottles
COMMON MISTAKES
Unfortunately, not everything is recyclable. These items are NOT recyclable and should be disposed of properly:
Wax covered boxes such as vegetable boxes, chicken boxes, or orange juice cartons
Oil container boxes
Envelopes with bubble wrap on the interior
Motor oil containers (hazardous household waste)
Styrofoam and peanuts
Vinyl siding
Foil lined boxes like dishwashing detergent boxes
Plastic shopping bags
Used hypodermic needles (hazardous medical waste)
Plastic microwave dishes/trays
